    The only thing these sort of things do is hurt small people who are genuinely trying to bring more joy into the world. You wanna go after folks, go after the slopmongers polluting the stores or people stealing bandwidth from the commons. I know that's harder to do and the indies are an easier target

    If you boycott Itch to the point of failure then the only thing you've done is remove a small indie storefront because you liked 95% of what it did but not that last 5%. I also think back to that Bsky38 thing, where everyone was having a good time until someone decided to push for a boycott

    Then they'll say "there's no ethical consumption under capitalism" or bring out that stupid "but you live in society" comic without understanding the underlying point: The only people you hurt when you attack small indie creators are small indie creators

    Even beyond Itch, you see this sort of thing everywhere. Everyone is so quick to cancel any kind of small project/creator for any kind of potential maleficence but I guarantee that at the end of the day they're sending texts from an Android or iPhone instead of something like the Pinephone
