the amount of times being able to Leave the room could’ve saved me from significant pain or trauma can be measured a least in dozens unfortunately i was under 18 so nobody cared about my opinion

My public school years were perhaps some of the worst years of my life for this reason. I imagine it would have been so much better if I had been able to just leave without being physically dragged back by teachers or police called by the school.

I think probably the worst suicidal tendencies I ever suffered were in the wake of abuse from teachers who I obviously couldn't get away from because any attempt to do so would be met with *corrective measures*, so it was always cheaper to just take the welts and cry when I got home.
