    i see a similar thing with survival horror - there are games like SIGNALIS or Sorry We're Closed that clearly take inspiration from older games but still manage to do something relatively different. and then there are the games called like Resident Hills

    yeah this is uncontroversial. i dived in a little and what it executes well on it does *very* well. mixed in with that is Bad Jank that i suspect would come across as Okay Jank if i’d played the original. so maybe the title vibe is perfect: great game that’d be even better if it owned itself more.

    Queen's Domain looks neat but naming your King's Field-like game that doesn't exactly inspire me to feel like you're doing anything substantially creative with the type of game it's inspired by. i think this is the sorta thing should be frowned upon more lol.
