there's a not insignificant number of 18-24 year old men who voted for trump and became conservative because it was, to them a funny meme. and then trump made everyone they know's life worse and so their "meme" made them into unfuckable pariahs and they may never care about politics again.

and part of the shift you see from the 18-24 year old men now is that they watched the cohort right in front of them turn into unfuckable pariahs and freaks over a meme and largely said "oh i don't want to do that". i just think it's kind of nice.
