  I see very little sign that the tech industry is ready to abandon X. Maybe some faint signs? Otoh, humanities "academic twitter" looks like this now. (If we had video I would put a tumbleweed rolling across the foreground.)

  Someone should actually fine-tune a model that takes NYT stories and translates them into straight talk. “ … continues to challenge norms about the boundaries of political speech” might become “continues to rely on insults, groundless insinuations, and veiled threats of violence.”

  Humanists will soon want to adapt generic language models to domains with much smaller numbers of source documents. To avoid overfitting, we may need to diversify our sources by synthetically rephrasing them. This paper suggests that entity graphs create more diverse rephrasing. 🧪🤖 #ML #AI

  I'm going to keep sharing papers in the "personalization" space, because I think they're relevant to the problems humanists & social scientists will encounter in modeling past populations. Of texts! I know libraries aren't censuses.
