Locked horns with what I thought was a "major systemwide issue requiring a huge fix" that turned out to ACTUALLY be me failing to close a tag properly. As is often the case, the best place to look for bugs remains somewhere between the chair and the keyboard.

Veilguard isn‘t a perfect game by any metric. But it is far, far better than much of the more deranged user reviews make it out to be. In more ways than not it was classic Bioware and a worthy Dragon Age title. And I am thankful it got made, messy as the development was, flawed as the result is.

Of course much of the criticism was retroactive rationalisation of a guttural disgust reaction to its perceived ‘wokeness‘. But Bioware titles were always queer in some ways, e.g. same-sex relationships were always part of their DNA. That is what makes EA’s move unsurprising but all the more tragic.

Unsurprising as something like this happening was to be expected ever since the Saudis and the Trump family got involved with EA. The kind reading is a hyperfocus on profit, merely good games that “only” sell several million copies get axed by that logic alone in favour of sports. Still infuriating.
