    also in lieu of people having other opportunities or stability in their lives, there's always the fantasy that you could squeeze some income out of this kind of shit. especially when the larger cultural sphere around them reinforces that belief

    the problem "AI slop" is further perpetuating was not created by "AI slop". people wouldn't be filling these platforms with crap if there wasn't the larger belief that playing the lottery could make you successful, because people know it's kind of arbitrary what becomes successful and what doesn't.

    i don't believe in "too many games" because cultural waste is not the same thing as the waste created by manufactured physical products, and it gives an easy excuse to ignore swathes of culture. but a market existing in the absence of larger cultural spheres of influence feels kind of meaningless.
