    Stagger incentivizes devs to make the enemies spongy and very tanky. You can only deal meaningful damage after stagger. And it just becomes this flow chart of A+B+C to do anything. It makes battle feel long and boring. I agree

    Yeah, it's usually not a great mechanic. Better to just let the player deal damage normally - you can still set up big hits if the game has proper buff/debuff & charge systems.
