    And yeah, if Björn Höcke ever becomes Chancellor of Germany, I think you'd be completely justified in calling Germans mad. Not sure we'd care much about international perceptions at that point because we'd have other problems, but we'd definitely deserve it

    Trump openly asked Russia to help him get elected. He's responsible for an attack on the Capitol. Whenever he opens his mouth, he lies. He barely knows where he even is and he treated the presidency as a machine to enrich himself and his family. Brexit might be stupid, but this is different

    But also, electing Trump (twice!) is qualitatively different from Brexit. I would've voted against Brexit and there's no doubt in my mind that it made Brits worse off, but a rational person could make arguments in favour of it. There are genuine concerns around national sovereignty, for example
