  NO. I own a small business. Trump's tariffs will increase the cost of my inputs by 25%, but replacing with locally made products would increase costs by 50%. Without free trade, we shut down. End of story. NOW DO YOU GET IT????

  The tariffs are one thing. The retaliatory tariffs imposed by the countries with which we are now in a trade war are another. Not only will prices go up domestically, but exports will decrease. This was poorly planned and poorly executed by a very stupid, incompetent person. It will be bad.

  Protectionism like this might work if one put the proper infrastructure in place *beforehand* to be able to manufacture those goods domestically. The problem is we don’t have that for many things. Building it takes a very long time. In the meantime, these tariffs are going to wreck our economy.
