    Oh no, this would be very bad. If the forecast verifies it would be nearly two feet higher than last week’s flood and close to the 1911 flood of record #cowx

    I do not envy the forecasters for this flood….small changes in temperature could alter elevation of the rain/snow line, risks for rain on snow, etc., which could all mean big shifts for better or worse in the flooding. There’ll be a lot of precip in a short time, but how much and where is it rain?

    NWS forecast now shows record flood crests on both the San Juan and the Rio Grande, with the heavy precipitation getting started and expected to continue through the day...

    As of 9:30 AM MST Sun, the NWS office in Grand Junction is predicting the San Juan at Pagosa Springs to crest at 22 feet on Sun eve (tagged as "particularly dangerous situation"). This would be 4+ feet above the prior record of 17.80 feet from Oct. 5, 1911. mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/wx/afos/p.ph...
