The Financial Times is not part of the IPSO voluntary press regulation scheme. An IPSO title would have to correct this as a point of accuracy. It would be surprising if their standards are lower - but tbc how this is handled.

Next net migration statistics (Nov 26th) will see net migration < 100k at its lowest for 30 years. We may hear more nonsense in the media + politics about emigration. (We should expect a rise, among recent migrants; there is no real rise of British emigration). The FT should not echo that.

It is simply untrue (for Cavendish or Farage) to attribute the fall in net migration last year or this year solely or primarily to high emigration. It is predominantly the product of falling immigration (ONS) www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopula...
