    It's about wanting Verosika to retain her intelligence, independence, and character growth regardless of who she's with. She deserves to be written as a character with her own judgment, not reduced to a sidekick in her boyfriend's schemes.

    Mayford could've worked without undoing her progress. Verosika can be a supportive partner, love someone, and enjoy an ordinary domestic gesture without losing her bite, her judgment, or her agency. This isn't about shipping preferences.

    And no being in love with Wally isn't, by itself, an explanation for why she'd abandon her own judgment. Verosika could have called Wally out before his scheme even got underway, then handed Blitz the coffee she'd bought for Wally, sat beside him and smugly say “Told you this would happen, babe.”
