Ver postMistle Thrush has never been more than a scarce migrant on Barra, most records occurring in March and Oct/Nov. We were surprised therefore to find a breeding pair in a pocket of conifers high up a hillside today. A new breeding species for Barra. #birdingscotland

We've set up a ringing project of St Kilda's Wrens + other passerines, supported by @stkildawhs.bsky.social @britishecologicalsociety.org @leverhulme.ac.uk. With this, we hope to study how island syndromes evolve.
