Agreed. I'm leaning on archives, more than curated collections, if I want older reviews. Collected reviews hold much more appeal to me personally when they're essay collections of one person's work.

Curation of older work is awesome, but I don't think the most helpful versions of that look like reviews, I think they look more like surveys, quick pointers a la Eleanor Ball's Backlist Lit, stunts like the various 100 Books of the Time Period lists, or a wild project like Galactic Journey

Real tough for them to be as interesting as just reading a book, so they're useful in helping you a) decide whether to read a book, or b) be more interesting when talking about a zeitgeist book, or c) prolong the experience of a book you just finished which are all time-bound to new releases (ish)

I've enjoyed single-author critical collections. A mix w/a very strong editorial vision could read well (as with music & games journalism (an anth of vintage Rock Paper Shotgun would rule)) but that's tough to drive/fund. Hard to imagine wanting to read a bunch of reviews of the same book.
