    i was just prompting the whole time, but people were still "impressed" because they didnt want to take the technical leaps to understand the systems at play. and that's fine! not everyone is going to care! but it was enlightening to see the non technical impressed by my ability to wrangle a robot.

    just because AI exists now doesn't make programming an appealing task for people. getting good results still takes time and effort, and requires skill and discipline. that hasn't changed. the mundanity is being stripped out, but the fundamental cost of actually understanding complex systems remains.

    we DON'T need a billion programmers. we DON'T need countless new apps on the app store for "flipping coins" (what a bizarre example still, you can literally type "flip a coin" into google for free). and people won't willingly choose to do this, actually!

    i pretty hard disagree with the notions of this post the more i stew on it. yes; programming is now easier than ever. but that doesn't mean programming is interesting to everyone, and that's the key of it.
