I think it's valid to go 'x and z would be good friends' but that's like. different in most contexts. it's just disparaging because someone's brain can interpret that as 'wow your character is so unoriginal. ooooo'. Even if that wasn't the intent.

idk we just really need to continue to de-normalize 'x looks like z!' comments with people's characters. or characters in general for that matter. it's just annoying and doesn't add anything to the convo whatsoever. at worst, it can make an artist feel SUPER insecure and unoriginal

I think it's less of a 'stolen character!' scenario and moreso 'everyone compares every skeleton to sans undertale and it's fucking annoying'. alongside the fact that constantly comparing someone's character to a character that recently got super popular is extremely grating at best
