Ver postI transitioned my Mum running MacOS on a big eMac to a laptop running Ubuntu, and she felt right at home with it. All the Google bits that fell down on the Old Mac, just worked in Chromium. She went thru two-hand-me-down laptops and moving data between them was just a handy 1TB usb disk.
Ver postIf you want to do gaming, Cachy OS would be your go to until Steam OS becomes more popular/better for laptops/desktops. If it's an older PC, Debian would/might be your best choice. One good Youtube page to check out for information/how-tos would be Learnlinux TV.
Ver postI made the switch to linux back in the late 2000's. The ease and use of it is much better now than back then. Depending on what you want to use it for and what programs to use might/will depend on the distro to go with. For the most 1:1 windows experience to linux would be Zorin OS.
