    And by "literal universalist" I mean Josiah Bartlett, who attended a universalist church. And if you're wondering, yes: That's the same Bartlett the fictional President Bartlett is descended from in The West Wing, although the character is, interestingly, Catholic, unlike like his ancestor.

    Religion note: Cruz appears to be accusing Hamilton of universalism (the idea that everyone goes to heaven), but Hamilton has stated the line in question was inclusivism, not universalism. Also: among the signers of the Declaration of Independence was at least 1 literal universalist, and likely 2.
