The idea that Schumer "built" the majority is farcical. He opposed Stratton, Flanagan, El-Sayed, & Jackson in the primary. Those plus Hamilton, Talarico, & Andrews oppose him for leader now. The majority was built by senators who he opposed and/or who oppose him now.

The White House chief of staff can’t be impeached, but the president can. The White House chief of staff CAN be investigated by Congress, though they are limited by separation of powers boundaries and certain claims of executive privilege.

The point is not that Stephen Miller will have any more power or influence as formal Chief of Staff; it's that his elevation sends an unambiguous message to Democrats that conciliation ain't happening—sparing them from what otherwise could've devolved into a messy split over how to approach 2027–29.

A friendly reminder: we are about to see some executive privilege battles as Congress investigates the administration. Those can take a long time. Please do not blame Dems in Congress for that delay.
