@jfmezei I understand that the Siemens Charger are not replacing the Alstom locomotives. They replace the Progress Rail EMD F59PH ones. And if exo’s train service shuts down, it will obliviously push me to using a car to go to work if the REM doesn’t work anymore.

The Chargers (at least the diesel versions) have been notoriously unreliable. If there's evidence that they've solved the winter weather problems, I've yet to see it. www.trains.com/pro/passenge...

Back to NYC with @mtametronorth.bsky.social. It’s a busy train out of Poughkeepsie, pushed by a new Siemens SC-42DM Charger locomotives. These can (and seem to actually) run on third rail electric power anywhere it’s available, which is a massive improvement. Here’s one in the other direction.

Whoa. Apparently Colorado voters just funded something called the CoCo train (Colorado connector). Across-the-state rail, and on pre existing tracks, so expecting to start service in 5 years. With future connections to NM and WY possible.

If that Seattle to Denver Amtrak line goes into service, that opens up so many possibilities. I would love to see the Rockies again.
