Imagine how stable Standard would be if it only rotated every 10 years and had a ban window every 5 years? No one would play it, but just think of that glorious stability.

Additionally, scheduling once-a-year bans right before rotation, and then using “well we want to see what rotation does” as an argument *not* to ban things in the past doesn’t leave me with a lot of confidence that the window will be well used in the future.

I understand the *goal* of having a single scheduled B&R announcement for Standard each year. It’s important for players to feel like they can count on being able to play their cards and decks. But I’m personally much *less* excited about Tarkir coming out because Rage and Beans are still legal.

It's worse than that, they jumped to 3 year Standard while at the same time announcing they were going to ban *less* often.
