  Not only is the R&D absurdly complex, but the entire geopolitical system is gearing around these things in order to protect this status quo. The EUV machines are probably by far the most complex and valuable engineering objects humans have created.

  Computer chips are probably the most limited, scarce and precious resource right now, not just because they're used for AI but because at this point in technological development only a handful of groups can afford to even make them at all.
