  Traditionally kids made their own guys & touted them outside shops begging "penny for the guy". The pennies bought the fireworks (&/or sweeties) & the guy got burnt on the bonfire. Haven't seen a kid's guy since I was a kid. The bonfires are more organised now & effigies are often political/humour

  I’m not a fan of the little barkers either. So rude! Garnet is such a good girl. She’s friendly with a few other dogs on our street. The barkers? She just walks by as if they don’t even exist. Maybe I’ve mentioned that Garnet is perfect? 🤭😉

  "Remember remember the 5th of November, gunpowder, treason & plot". Guy Fawkes & some collaborators tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament in 1605 in an attempt to kill the King & foment a Catholic uprising. We burn his effigy on bonfires & let off fireworks.
