i feel like absent from the "how dare fanfic writers want people to engage with them" wankery is that it's not just about me the author - as a writer i want to talk to the people who write awesome fic?? i think they're cool?? i am in awe of everyone's skill and ideas???

I'm trying not to get too focused on this, but it's really funny that the same people who complain that authors don't finish WIPs are also basically telling them that once the fic is out there they are no longer useful at all. Like... do you see how that might NOT MOTIVATE someone to finish???

I am baffled by the amount people demonizing fanfic writers for wanting positive engagement on their fanfics. The audacity of you to shame people who feel joy when fellow fans enjoy their works and expecting them to continue providing 🤡
