And thousands more early voters from Sunday and today haven't yet been included in the tally. Altogether, I'd expect advance voting to be somewhere around 105,000. That would mean one-third of Alaskans voted before Election Day and two-thirds voted on Election Day.

The number of advance votes — early and absentee combined — is already bigger than the 2022 and 2018 midterms and is nearing the 2016 presidential election mark. As many as 14,000 more absentee ballots have not yet been returned — the biggest day for returns is usually the day after Election Day.

The number of early votes — cast in person at 11 different locations on the Railbelt, Nome and Juneau — is the second highest on record, bigger than everything but the 2024 general election, which had a vote for president.

Through noon yesterday (Sunday, Nov. 1), more than 91,000 Alaskans had already voted in the midterm elections. That's almost a third of what I expect the eventual turnout to be (~300k).
