Sure he clocked her when he saw her, but when he talked with her he would become uncertain, because she doesn't know... How wouldn't she know? The test removed the uncertainty.
Ver postYeah, I don't think he buys the whole "I want to see a negative result" thing.
Ver postWithin the movie, we can't be sure the Voight-Kampff works or if it's pseudo science. We never get much evidence - whether Deckard believes in it or not, it may just function like a polygraph test, a way to squeeze replicants into making a mistake, a bit of interrogation theatre.
Ver postHe has quite a lot of contextual clues given where he is when he meets her. One imagines he would be on alert in the same way you would if you were in the office of the CEO of a firm that made hyper-realistic cake sculptures & they asked you to answer the conspicuous rotary phone on their desk.
Ver postWe were all trained to think the movie was actually about Deckard being a human who acts like a machine finding himself by meeting a machine that is more human. But the Unicorn reading where its two machines finding each other I think is actually *better*! And it reads better now! Maybe.
