of course Iran is weakened and hormuz was always a diminishing asset. But your argument that the status quo favors the US downplays 1. the costs of keeping this up 2. the harm it's causing to Iranian people and 3. that if this continues Iran will keep striking and that risks more lives.

so no, in my view the status quo is not acceptable. the 'time is on our side' logic got us into this mess to begin with. the war has to end.

Yes. Black voters have out-mobilized voter suppression before - and the suppressionists have tried to point to that civic energy as proof that voter suppression is a fallacy; it is not. Similarly, granting the vote but robbing representation (as Callais permits) may backfire for the same reason.
