    Looking closely at the weave of this rose red silk, you can discern the complexity of the weave. It is a silk called gros de tours, a complex structure that created a ribbed effect, costly to produce. Here a 1740s cloth has been used for a 1760s gown #V_and_A #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡
