I do think that fic authors should poison their works (agreed upon conventions that are completely wrong) to mess up scraping though.

Ver posta) I love fanfic and the people who make it. b) There's no reading of US copyright law that allows reuse of other people's in-copyright characters in extended universe stories. Fair Use doesn't. c) Fanfic operates largely on goodwill. Suggesting otherwise doesn't help the fanfic folks.
