  Exactly! Scientific useful machine learning algorithms are NOT the same as generalized llm/genAI systems. And the lack of distinction among all, even opponents, continues to make this discussion impossible.

  The problem is that techbros, deliberately I assume, mash genuinely-useful machine learning together with almost-entirely-useless LLMs/chatbots and called the lump "AI". The former will be helpful. The latter will not, but IMO that's what techbros can flog to a broad and gullible audience.
