    I don’t need her to be “my dog”—I’m happy she adores Junko. But I want her to be happy, even when J’s out and I’m home with her. Years of her staring at me tense with fear and stiffly avoiding me…I felt so sorry for her. Now she’s been relaxing with me, & moving toward being happy with me! So nice!

    I also gave her baths and daily brushing, and always tried to be reassuring and gentle. Starting about a year ago things gradually got better. Tonight’s a big step, though: actually coming to me with happy body language!

    Pomme was begging Junko to lift her up onto the sofa, but J’s back is aching. So I said to Pomme, “Sofa? Oide!” (Come here) and after a moment of hesitation she ran to me…a HUGE breakthrough! She ran to me to be picked up, with no food or going outside involved! I got kinda teary. #dogsky #rescue
