Margaret Thatcher replaced Domestic Rates with Council Tax. Under Domestic Rates if your house was worth 100x the average you paid 100x the average. Under Council Tax it is capped at 3x, so people in Castle's pay little more than you. Tax the rich, bring back Domestic Rates.

Peasants, rise up! In UK at least. A consultation on who is allowed to know who owns land in England and Wales is under way. If scuppered by big landowners, you won’t get to find out, and councils etc will have to pay, which is bad. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...
