    I find the obsession with ranking scientists from one or some of the persons who always figure somewhere in the top of those rankings to be a major ick, to be frank. I can’t think of a single reasonable use for it other than creating an exclusive boys’ club of mutual back patting.

    I mean, it's not really field-adjusted. A person who published a paper on a topic prone to a lot of, how to put it mildly, eager citation practices, will get to the top very quickly.

    i only beat him bc the system thinks he's two people and splits him up. i think this is a bad system for doing well in psychiatric genetics, because it takes your impact per paper and divides it by # of authors, which in your field is ... many.
