one other piece of good news is i was able to push the first new construction project to be a 5-story point access block building (single stair) with largely 2- and 3-bedroom homes. basically every unit is corner aspect. ✊

In the meantime, I look forward to connecting with folks about potential collaboration efforts around designing and delivering better quality housing, mass timber, and passivhaus buildings. Who knows. We still need a viable baugruppen movement here in the US. www.larchlab.com/baugruppen/

Moving back from Germany during COVID has been a wild experience. From running my own design shop and policy think tank (Larch Lab), to writing a book on better development (Building For People, Island Press), to becoming a national leader on building code reform and better quality housing.

all of which would go on to inform the design standards. Design matters. *Especially for Social Housing* There is a reason affordable homes in other countries offer a far better quality of life over what our codes & status quo development can deliver - and it isn't just a different funding model.
