It makes authors feel like people are more interested in the output than the community aspect Especially since reuploading makes it way less likely the original author will get feedback from the community since the work is now way over in some random place they don't know to look

I do believe a lot of people had good intentions but lbr - if this was fan art, absolutely everyone would be screaming that it's rude to reupload uwu Fanfic authors just wanted the same respect given to every fan artist under the sun, and a lot of people started mocking them The hell??

Suddenly everyone comes out of the woodwork frothing at the mouth, and so desperate for fic during a (temporary!) outage that they started reuploading fics to random g drives or sketchy vibe coded websites And when authors tried to say that was rude, a zillion people shouted them down Like...what?

Fanfic writers are ALREADY writing for the love of the game, because very few people are out here publicly being in community with them Sometimes you'll see Discord communities pop up around particularly popular fics, but for the most part, we post and assume no one is reading Then AO3 went down
