The people who lost children and other loved ones in the Texas floods are owed honest answers from officials. They should be told why flash flood warnings issued hours earlier were not conveyed to people in the path of the water. They don’t need more prayers from politicians. They need answers.
The United States government is no longer able to protect us from real hazards, such as flash floods, because it’s shifting funds to fake hazards, such as a non-existent immigrant crime wave. www.nytimes.com/2025/07/05/u...
Why are folks mad at the working mom with kids on Medicaid and SNAP rather than companies like Walmart that refuse to pay her a living wage and provide health insurance?
The flash flooding in Central Texas is absolutely heartbreaking. Michelle and I are praying for everyone who has lost a loved one or is waiting for news — especially the parents. And we’re grateful to the first responders and rescue teams working around the clock to help.
Folds: If we’ve been told our whole lives that we can’t spend money on the arts because they’re not important—then why was taking over the Kennedy Center and the arts the first thing they did? It is extremely important. It’s the bedrock of self-expression.
ICE just raided our local Home Depot in Orlando. Of course, the masked thugs didn’t pick up any members of MS-13 — just a few hardworking immigrants trying to put food on the table for their families.

Sandy Hook parent says tragedies are inherently political: “You may not believe in climate change, but insurance companies absolutely do.”
"Some experts say staff shortages might have complicated forecasters’ ability to coordinate responses with local emergency management officials," per NYT.
Someone prove this wrong.
Minnesota is keeping Texas close in our hearts as devastating flooding continues. We stand ready to help our neighbors down south in any way we can as communities begin the long road to recovery.
Medicare for All - "That's socialism!" Social Security - "That's socialism!" Debt free education - "That's socialism!" Universal childcare - "That's socialism!" $1 trillion+ in tax cuts for the wealthy... "That's just how it is."

Don’t for one second, not one millisecond, say babies drowning in Texas is justified because of their parent’s vote. Jesus Christ. Be better.

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has always been a nonpartisan agency focused on serving the public, until now.

“Sir, there are families who deserve better than that.”
The first group of immigrants has arrived at a new “camp” deep in the Florida Everglades, where officials are openly describing it as “concentrating” certain people in one area. Have you seen the photos of the flooding? This entire site is a human rights violation.
Just wow! Can we appreciate the fact that a team from Mexico is in Texas helping with the search and rescue. 👏🏽

I'm just saying....
Lol. I don't give politicians or parties or PACs or dark money groups anything. When I campaigned for Kamala I paid for everything out of my pocket. I wouldn't let them pay for anything. You can hate or like my positions, that's up to you I want my positions to stand or fall on their own merits

1/2 You could write a book about one atrocious headline in print NYT today (I sort of wrote this book 30 years ago, Breaking the News, but others can take a turn.) What's wrong this headline? Mamdani "faces scrutiny" **ONLY AND EXCLUSIVELY** because NYT decided to make this a "thing." Really bad.
Unimaginable heartbreak in Texas from these deadly flash floods. My thoughts are with everyone devastated and the families still holding on to hope to find their loved ones.
the thing about elon musk’s new party is at least ross perot had a kind of charisma about him. watching elon speak is physically painful.
Fuck this guy forever.
Reporter: Do the tariff rates change at all on July 9th or do they change on August 1st? Trump: What are you talking about? Reporter: Tariff rates. Do they change on July 9th or August 1st? Trump: They're going to be tariffs. The tariffs are going to be the tariffs.
CEO pay is up 1,085% since 1978, while typical worker pay is up just 24%. Why do we always hear "we can't afford to pay our workers more" but never "we can't afford to pay our CEO more"?
Can we get these in the states 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐘𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄?? 😁😁😂

Stop spreading this garbage about em dashes in ACTUAL EDITED PROSE OH MY GOD. Plenty of actual human beings know how to type em dashes! We’re called “writers” and “editors” — maybe you’ve heard of us?
The entitlement of this woman 😡
Missouri passed a law in 2023 that prohibited healthcare providers from performing pelvic exams on unconscious or anesthetized patients without their informed consent because IT WAS LEGAL TO PERFORM A PELVIC EXAM ON AN ANESTHESIZED PATIENT WITHOUT CONSENT UNTIL 2023…

Do you remember when Governor Abbott put razor wire along the banks of the Rio? Do you remember when he had razor wire wrapped around the buoys?
Seeing how it's now gospel that the Texas flood was a "hundred year flood". C'mon folks. That's very 1990s. This stuff is commonplace now.

The Epstein List went from "sitting on [Pam Bondi's] desk right now" to "there is no list" in just a few months!
In 2020, when I told people that I was building a pro-democracy media outlet, people thought I was kidding. When I told them that the fight for democracy was the fight of our time, they thought I was being overly dramatic. Well...here we are. Subscribe to Democracy Docket now. hubs.ly/Q03jcjqP0
For no reason other than it's pretty: A chicory flower.
Pam Bondi in February: The Epstein client list is sitting on my desk right now to review. Pam Bondi today: There is no Epstein client list and no "further disclosure" of Epstein-related material "would be appropriate or warranted."
i checked yesterday and bill ackman has been tweeting nonstop about Mamdani for days if not weeks. used to be you'd see a guy crashing out obsessively like this on a web forum and you'd toss them in the crank file. now it's just Normal Billionaire Behavior
In the run up to 2016 Elizabeth Warren who was not running for election that year toured Massachusetts with a presentation about how the policies of the past 40 years or so only enriched the rich. Nobody covered it
social media has done enormous amounts of damage but maybe the worst of it is driving the tech and finance bros completely insane all the weird rich guys spend all their time losing their minds online instead of going on vacation to the bahamas or some shit
I never actually believed Epstein was murdered until just now
There is nothing okay about seeing abandoned lawnmowers and food carts. The people gone. Disappeared by our government.

"Allow people to privately borrow against the their children's future income" is both monstrous and also an absolute GREAT way to crash the fertility rate in precisely one generation.

President Trump’s Justice Department always, positively, unquestionably, and without fail does the right and just and honorable things for the most correct and principled reasons, so I totally and absolutely believe this without even the slightest question or doubt
What happened in the intervening four months between this Bondi statement and the DOJ report on Epstein?
The original Gizmo puppet at MoPop. Look how they massacred our boy. 😭
You want to raise the fertility rate? * free child care * universal health care * fix the fucking student loan shit * make serious strides to solve global warming * real parental leave
Imagine if this was Joe Biden who promised to release it all and then announced this weeks after Elon said Joe Biden was on this list. But here MAGA will be like…oh okay.
