Then the scary question: Was this a one-off? Or have other injunctions been granted, supposedly to prevent harassment, but actually silencing people - even in private conversations with friends, family and the police? I don't know if there's any way to find out.

And for the judiciary: how could a judge grant such an order against an unrepresented defendant, without a trial, without determining whether her allegations were true and without, it seems, any assessment of proportionality?

How could lawyers justify asking a court to prohibit speech that couldn't conceivably constitute harassment - including private conversations with friends and family, and reports to the police?

In substance this wasn't a harassment injunction at all. It was a libel injunction in disguise. That's outrageous because (1) you can't usually get a libel injunction at all, and (2) even in the rate cases you can, the defendant gets to argue they were telling the truth.
