I'm going to say it - as a student I always stood and said the pledge. But as an adult - I now see it as really weird & China-esque. Why are we doing this? Is it aspirational? Bc we're clearly not indivisible or provide liberty and justice for all. And let's not forget about the god thing.

Right! It's like we're expected to forget everything we were taught as kids about what our country stands for under the orange felon and his administration. He's trying so hard to overturn the Constitution.

The key words here are "made me say"... indoctrination. I stopped saying the Pledge of Allegiance when I was 7. I'm pledging? Allegiance? I'm seven. Words have meaning. Why would I pledge if I don't know what it means

I always just stood there uncomfortably watching everyone else chant the words while thinking "this is really creepy!" I don't "pledge allegiance" to anything, but I do respect the idea of democracy and freedom.
