A relative got a kitten that developed heart disease at an early age. Vet said she had 4 months tops. Died when she was 22. Elderly cats are not like kittens where you deal with a toddler. You interact with a peer. Well worth it.

He is a sweet and gentle soul, with many good years left to him. He’s had a very rough time of it— after losing his first home, his 2nd owner couldn’t remember to give him his meds every day & his blood pressure got so high. He deserves a last, forever loving human who will help him bloom again.

They asked us if we could help him, and despite being very full, we said yes and filled our last foster space. He has high blood pressure and takes a tiny pill once per day, and he sounds like he has a ton of fluid in one ear making him pretty uncomfortable, but mostly he is confused and scared.

This poor old man is Smokey. Smokey was owned until he was 8 by an elderly man who passed away, and was then taken in by a friend who was elderly herself, and now a year later she can’t care for him due to health problems of her own. She brought him to the vet for euthanasia. The vet intervened.
