I mention these things, because we don't often see this sort of church growth talked about or celebrated. But it is real, and it is significant. So it's good to notice, and share, and encourage one another in similar situations.

Another thing I notice is that when I think we're a bit thin on the ground, and count the congregation, the number is often one I would once have thought of as average. My subconscious has adjusted its expectations, apparently. This is not spectacular growth! But it's steady, and it's sticking.

I used to notice when we had more than 40 communicants (across two churches) because it was rare and exciting. Now I still notice (and it's still exciting) but it's not so rare - we probably cross that threshold about half the time. This is what slow and sustainable church growth looks like here.
