    Those trips sound lovely! You can always scatter some with grandpa now, and then plan a trip to Cali for the future; something to look forward to when things are better! (My family ashes are also spread in Cali; there's some lovely spots out there.)

    I don't know much about your grandma, but if you don't have a set spot to scatter her ashes, maybe you can visit spots she liked, lived in, and/or would find beautiful? We've done that, and I've heard of folks even going on road trips to old hometowns or nature spots to safely scatter ashes.

    Idk if this perspective will help, but my family has a tradition of cremating our loved ones. The way I always saw it is, our family members have such a big impact that ashes let them spread across more places. And with us, we scatter tge family ashes in a set spot, so all of us can be together.
