I said to a colleague tonight that years of Dem failure socialized me against having that much hope I have never been more glad to be wrong about almost everything, but I will only say that there’s a reason that I did not post predictions. I just couldn’t be sure.

Not only did the Dems get their candidates on track, but all those protests *did* in fact produce engagement and VOTING. The result is not even close - which is the kind of overwhelming result you need to defeat authoritarianism. Congrats to Dems - and to many other Americans who said NO MORE

Yes. If there’s one dark cloud, I’ll allow myself here. It’s to remind Democrats that the most important issue here is that Donald Trump made himself a toxic presence in every single race. Don’t mistake that for popularity. Now Democrats have to earn the trust they’ve been given. They can do it.

I’m going to enjoy tonight and not think about it too much. But yes, don’t mistake a rebuke of Trump for an affirmation of Democrats. I know I did in 2020. They have a generational opportunity right now. Don’t blow it by misreading the room.
