Meg 33♒️, they/them simply no longer trying to avoid Apollo's dodgeball very normal about vampires, and strange women in various bodies of water weilding swords. 💀I Pray the Tomb is Shut Forever💀

but yeah i would like it if more dracula adaptations focused, deconstructed, and critiqued its bigoted themes while also acknowledging how it uses blood-drinking as a shorthand for SA. i can also enjoy sexy castlevania dracula bc i'm a pervert first, a psychologist second

this isn't me being a centrist like the genre is literally studied and categorized for its "excessive meaning" which is why you can teach one lecture on the uncanny double of frankenstein then a completely different one on its themes of patriarchal violence and BOTH would be correct

"dracula is actually about repression" "dracula is actually about bloodsucking landlords" "dracula is actually about assault" "dracula is actually about xenophobia" "dracula is actually about bram stoker being closeted" dracula is about all of those things welcome to the gothic genre
