I think your understanding underplays the systemic nature & entrenchment of White Supremacy in the United States — it was not limited to some evangelicals in the South, but was national in scope, facilitated by every level of government Just think of the daylight, public execution of George Floyd

Conservative Christians inspired the Nazis. The US outlawed chattel slavery 80; years before WWII. Eugenicists like Prescott Bush and Walt Disney inspired the Nazis. The Castelamarese war was about money and territory, not white supremacy. The racism in the US was inherent and abhorrent.

We weren't executing them in camps. I agree, the treatment was less than exemplary, but there wasn't a state run disposal unit. Comparing the two is a bad faith argument.
