LGDs can be phenomenal but they're *dogs*. They weren't actually bred to work without backup or training, that's just what people try to make them do. It gets LGDs killed.

Yeah my two Akbash have an "I have noticed something" bark which gets deployed for everything from sparrows to squirrels and also an "I am going to eat that coyote" bark which is very, very different

Interestingly enough, the Tibetan mastiffs had what was called the drone bark, which is a low, monotonous, unending bark to warn off wolves and snow leopards, but it was VERY different from the alarm bark.
