Dear god, you just refuse to understand how viruses and vaccines work. Every unvaccinated person is vulnerable. They were protected because the rest of the country wasn't batshit crazy about vaccines. It's not about CAUSING it; it's about catching and spreading the most contagious virus.

No, you've missed the point. Their entire community chose not to vaccinate. It's not about *causing* it; it's about contributing to it. Relying on everyone else (herd immunity) will fail when part of the herd chooses not to vaccinate. They were above it all, til they weren't.

The Amish have been coasting on herd immunity for decades. Problem is when the rest of the herd decides to stop vaccinating, then they become vulnerable. Turns out, the measles virus doesn't care about your religion or any other beliefs. If you interact with other humans, you have to vaccinate.
