so. who knows if i’m going to be caught up in similar dynamics in the future. i fucking hope not but i am still vulnerable in many of the same ways. but i DO hope to get close to more people who genuinely value the work i’m doing, who want to support it, protect it even.

you can’t theorize your way out of being victimized by coercion. neither structural nor interpersonal coercion. sometimes it is less scary to think that you can, because it gives you the illusion of control where none exists. but it’s not your fault when an authoritarian chooses to target you.

anyway. i’ve been avoiding talking about this because, yeah, i feel fucked up by it. and embarrassed. like i should be someone who “knows better.” but that thought process itself is pretty counter to what i actually believe, counter to the theory i’ve articulated for years.

i was extremely isolated in a smaller town, i was the victim of police brutality, i was experiencing both violence and neglect by the medical system. this person was one of the only other anarchists i knew in town. they were 1 of 2 people who could drive me to medical appointments.
