Post anzeigenI don't actually understand the government response. It is for the courts to implement the law as it stands (minimum ban of two years currently), which they try to do. For lifetime bans to become automatic, that would require a change in the law and is not for the courts to decide independently.
Post anzeigenMy dad fought in the war and he wasn't a racist. My late mother was a teenager and dedicated her life to helping refugees. My cousin is in her 80s and "fucking hates racists". You don't get a get out of racist jail free card simply for being old and having happened to have lived during a war.
Post anzeigenI can see there are now other analyses or views of the legality of Faber paying royalties to Sally Rooney, & possibility of committing s.15 TA2000 offence. My view for what it's worth is that a sensible doctrinal reading of the section does not likely lead to conclusion that Faber risk prosecution.
