An amazing sight this evening where, presumably, dispersing Money Spiders have left the Meadow completely covered in silk threads - beautifully illuminated by the setting sun. I've been standing here before and been quite surprised to suddenly find myself covered in hundreds of tiny spiders!

Rapid travel across longitudes can induce a form of “jet lag” in wild seabirds, leading them to veer off course as they navigate by the Sun, even when alternative navigational cues are available. The results provide a new avenue for chronobiology research in the wild. https://scim.ag/4k86tsD

New paper in @animalecology.bsky.social!📝http://doi.org/10.1111/1365-2656.70350 Coordination is thought to be key to the success of biparental care, but we don’t know how this varies with species’ ecology 🍃 We explore: how important is partner coordination & does this depend on environment? 🏞️

An unprecedented second patch tick (169th) in as many days. Rock Pipit long overdue for me, had a couple of failed attempts at flyovers before with no recording or photo to properly rule out Water Pipit (arguably more likely due to habitat). Sound recording here ebird.org/checklist/S4... #ukbirding

Check out our new paper Why don't all birds lay early? Causes and consequences of breeding timing for a long-lived migratory seabird It's got the first welsh language abstract in the journal (I think) Thanks to everyone for their field efforts besjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...
